Intimacy issues can impact couples from all walks of life-including cancer survivors. In fact, clinical research has found that women treated for cancer typically experience issues related to sexual wellness and intimacy, both during and after treatment. Fortunately, there’s hope. 

Join our very own Maureen Ryan, DNP, NP-C, a licensed expert in sexual wellness, in two insightful, knowledge-packed groups dedicated to helping cancer survivors overcome obstacles to sexual wellness!

Both groups are completely free and open to any and all women who have successfully completed cancer treatment. 

Cancer Sexual Health Program: Survivorship For Women

Meeting Time: Every second Thursday of each month.

Location: 45 Spindrift Drive, 2nd Floor, Williamsville, NY 14221

Topics: Our Cancer Sexual Health Program includes a series of monthly small group survivorship sessions that focus on different aspects of intimacy, self-image, and sexual health. We’ll share helpful information and insights in a safe and welcoming space with time for discussion and questions. Topics may include:

Cancer Survivorship Sexual Health 2022 Virtual Book Club

This book club is open to women looking for a safe, relaxed environment in which to learn, grow, and be inspired through thoughtful conversation. 

For our initial book, we have selected The Lovin’ Ain’t Over for Women with Cancer by Ralph and Barbara Alterowitz

Meeting Time: First and third Wednesday of each month, 7:00-8:00 pm. 

Location: This group will meet via Zoom. Feel free to leave your camera off and just listen or turn your camera on and join in on the conversation!

Topics: Gatherings include an educational component, chapter discussions, and opportunities for individual reflection.

About Maureen Ryan, DNP, NP-C

Group sessions are led by Maureen Ryan, DNP, NP-C, a nurse practitioner who specializes in sexual wellness. She holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is dual-licensed as an Adult Health and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Maureen received her training as a sex therapist from the Florida Sex Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

She is also an ASSECT-certified Sexuality Counselor, a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association. 

Maureen is also the founder of the Mind-Body Connection for Adult Health, which since its inception in 2011 has supported individuals and couples to move beyond perceived barriers to intimacy and live more meaningful, satisfying lives. Her guiding principle is that sexual energy is a positive expression of human life and can be used to promote health and self-growth
